Why should we use celery sticks in the kitchen?
In our kitchen, the type of celery with more developed roots and thinner stems is mostly used. However, it is an increasingly popular variety with broad stems and few leaves. This is where the famous celery juice comes from, and it is becoming easier to find in our markets. This variety is the one used in the recipes we present today.
Here are the health benefits of celery:
It is believed to protect heart health.
Celery stalks contain a lot of water and are rich in vitamins and minerals, including potassium and calcium, which are important for the health of the cardiovascular system. They also contain folate and vitamin K, which are needed to create red blood cells and prevent the formation of blood clots. There are also flavonoids that have an anti-inflammatory effect.
It has a positive effect on digestion.
Celery stalks are a good source of soluble and insoluble fiber, and both groups of fibers are important for optimal digestive function. There is research that says celery may be useful in preventing stomach ulcers.
They can be anti-inflammatory.
Due to the richness of the ingredients that have an anti-inflammatory effect, it can be useful in the diet of people with chronic inflammatory processes, such as arthritis.
It is useful for improving memory.
A 2017 study with animals shows an improvement in cognitive function due to the consumption of celery extract in cases of aging and depression. Another study recognized the neuroprotective benefits of celery in participants with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
It causes a better metabolism of sugar.
Due to their low glycemic index and high fiber content, celery sticks are recommended for all those who need to pay attention to their blood sugar level. Studies have shown that celery sticks can help lower blood glucose levels.
And here’s Tamara’s recipe: celery sticks stuffed with goat cheese
“Most of my friends are happy when they try something: celery sticks stuffed with goat cheese. They’re a great opportunity to socialize in the evening or have snacks inside a healthy buffet,” Tamara explains.
You need to make 14-16 of these bites:
• 6 celery stalks
• 200 g goat cheese
• 20 g fresh or dried onions
• A little red pepper powder
Wash and dry the celery stalks, then cut into three parts. Mix the goat cheese with the stick mixer, then fill each stem with this cream and then pour in the finely chopped chives and a little red pepper powder.
It’s very easy to make, and it tastes so sophisticated!
