How to stop overeating – Instagram profile is one of the questions we received via @ lepotaizdravlje.rs. “I got into an overeating routine, mostly in the evening, when I had finished all my duties. How can I stop that?” We asked nutritionist Marija Đurković for an answer.
What could be the reasons for overeating
There are several reasons for overeating in the evening, including:
1. During the day, when we are active, we don’t eat enough.
2. We skipped a meal or two.
3. You are tired, and then your body wants energy.
4. Your meals are unbalanced.
5. You have imposed too many restrictions on yourself during the day.
It’s usually too much to eat if you have breakfast earlier, from 8am to 9pm and then lunch from 5pm to 6pm, only when we get home. It’s normal that when we’re hungry, we don’t get enough – what we eat.
And then we go back to basics; regular meals are there so you don’t overeat in the evening.
When a problem is identified, it can then be addressed.
Some useful strategies on how to stop overeating
We need to eat during the day – which means bringing meals from home. Breakfast, snacks, lunch (if you keep working longer). Another meal that worked well for my clients was breakfast at home, then snacks at work and breakfast again and again, and then when I got home, I had lunch and dinner in the evening.
It is also very important to drink enough fluids.
If there is an emotional problem that is the cause of overeating, my advice is to go to a psychotherapist where you will find the cause and solution of the problem together.
Marija Đurković is a nutritionist by profession. He graduated from the Medical School of Vocational Studies in Belgrade of the same name. He then took part in a course organized by the Vojvodina Leisure and Health Association and obtained a certificate as a nutrition and supplement consultant in leisure and recreation.
