Healthier sweets will help you enjoy the holiday season without endangering your health. We have received a list of the healthiest sweets from nutritionist Marija Đurković.

It’s time to enjoy the holiday, relax and pamper yourself. Of course, this means that we will enjoy our favorite dishes and flavors. But because we celebrate and relax, we don’t have too much to sweeten with processed desserts. (In addition, they often contain glucose-fructose syrup, which is a much worse choice for sucrose for our health – “plain” table sugar).

The healthiest desserts for our body are those that use sweet natural fruit flavors, to which are added home-made preserves (compotes, jams, marmalades, etc.), as well as nuts, healthier flours and healthier fats.

We asked nutritionist Marija Đurković to find out which are the healthiest sweets in order to “sweeten” ourselves properly and not endanger our health. Here’s Mary’s list, and we suggest you print it out and, as a souvenir, hang it in the fridge.

These are healthier sweets

Although the options are healthier, we need to be moderate in quantity, because healthy sweets also have calories, sometimes more than unhealthy ones.

From store:

  • Dark chocolate contains more than 70% cocoa in antioxidants, is rich in iron and is a good choice instead of milk chocolate.
  • Protein pudding, protein chocolate and fruit yogurt (however, make sure you read the composition as the quality changes a lot). Most are sweetened with sugar alcohols (erythritol, maltitol) and this is a good choice.
  • Sweetened desserts with stevia, in which the amount of sugar is reduced or completely eliminated.


Marija Đurković is a nutritionist by profession. He graduated from the Medical School of Vocational Studies in Belgrade and then attended a course organized by the Vojvodina Leisure and Fitness Association and obtained a certificate as a nutrition and supplement nutrition and fitness consultant. In December 2017, he opened a nutrition consulting center in Nova Pazova, where many of his clients have gone from desire to goal. Maria hopes that all of them will bring a passion for healthy eating and healthy living habits from the counseling center. As of July 1, 2020, the counseling center will operate elsewhere in Block A of New Belgrade.
